Coates Hire is now offering optional Accugrade GPS machine control in a selection of their motor graders, excavators and compaction rollers.  

The machine control option is being offered as part of a special drive to provide their customers with the latest technology that has been proven to increase machine productivity.  

Coates Hire’s flexible technology offering allows excavators to be hired with a GPS system for detailed excavation. The GPS components can be easily removed if the excavator is subsequently used to load trucks.  

Motor grader systems can be configured to use simple cross slope control or upgraded to laser, GPS or UTS for sub 10mm final trimming.  

Recently, an Unanderra-based civil contracting company, Roadworx P/L hired a new CAT 140M motor grader from Coates Hire fitted with Accugrade GPS machine control for a road upgrade project in Moss Vale NSW.  

Roadworx was keen to try the GPS technology on this project primarily to reduce survey costs and also to ensure correct placement of the various layers of material.  

In addition to the user-friendly GPS system and responsive joystick controls of the new CAT M Series grader, the operator was impressed by the fact that he had the job design displayed in front of him with the blade automatically moving to the desired elevation and cross slope.  

Accugrade GPS machine control is suitable for motor graders to enable the operator to grade faster even with complex designs.  

The GPS system is ideal for use in excavators for bulk earthmoving applications such as land reclamation, dam and reservoir construction as well as cutting batters and V-drains on new infrastructure projects.  

Single and tandem drum rollers can use the GPS system for mapping and counting compaction passes as well as measuring and recording as-built elevations.
