IT was all about antique tractors at the New England Antique and Machinery Club’s meeting at Glen Innes on Saturday.
Held at Chris and Betty Walker’s property on the Gwydir Highway, about 35 people attended, which included members and guests who wanted to have a look at Mr Walker’s collection of tractors on display.
It was the first time the club, which is based in Armidale, had hosted a meeting in Glen Innes and secretary Rod Bate said it was a success.
“We picked up one definite new members with a few other potential members,” Mr Bate said.
“It was very interesting to find out about the tractor and it was a good day with great weather.
“We are now hoping to have meetings at least once a year in the outer lying areas of our club as it gives our members a chance to see these collections.
“Chris and Betty put on a great day and it was a great venue for our meeting.
“I know a lot of our members would love to have the shed Chris does.”
Mr Walker said he enjoyed hosting the meeting.
“It was a wonderful day and everyone enjoyed themselves,” he said.
“Everyone was very interested in the tractors and we were quite pleased with how it all went.
Mr Walker also has a large collection of toy tractors and he said all those in attendance were really impressed with that collection.
After lunch, the group headed to Athol Wartenby’s property to view his collection of Ford tractors.
“They were also a hit with the members and there was a lot of interest,” Mr Walker said.
