Backhoe is a powerful and proficient heavy construction gear used for major constructions operation and roadways. It is also called rear actor or back actor. It is the most used construction equipment because of its flexibility.

It consists of the two major components, the backhoe and the loader. The backhoe loader’s center is a tractor base that consists of a powerful engine and big wheels. It has also a cab that protects the operator from different weather conditions.

There is also a set of gearshift that maneuvers the backhoe loader. It has also a long articulated arm with an excavator at the end that can excavate big volume of materials, haul soil and debris. This part of the arm that carries the excavator is called dipper or dipper stick.

The part of the arm near the tractor is called a boom. The boom is attached to the tractor though the king post that makes the arm to swing from left to right.

Other tools can be attached at the end of the arm just like tools needed to break solid materials… The backhoe has a stabilizer leg to keep the backhoe from moving while in use. The loader part of the backhoe is like a huge shovel. It can be used to dig and flat roadways as well as to transport materials and lift trucks.

The backhoe can do both excavation and transportation of materials. Some backhoes are power-driven by hydraulics. With the rise of technology and invent of hydraulic power attachments, the backhoe is commonly used in other application other than digging.

The operator of the backhoe needs to undergo specialize training in order to operate the backhoe safely and securely. The operator spins the chair and controls the different gears to operate the backhoe. And a supervisor usually ensures that the backhoe is being used appropriately and safe.
