For producing strong base courses
The soil stabilization process enables the specific properties of moist ground to be modified so as to permit compaction. This is done with the aid of cold recyclers, which mill up the ground while simultaneously mixcing a binder such as cement or lime into the native soil.

Cold recycling is the name used for a technique whereby the carriageway pavement is milled up. The addition of binders produces a new mixture of materials which is placed directly by the recycling machine and serves as a base course. Both the unbound and the bound courses are reused completely, i.e. 100 percent. The slurry mixer ensures the water-cement slurry is added in precisely metered quantities to the cold recycling process. Various materials can be used as binder. Cement, bituminous emulsion and foamed bitumen are used most commonly.

Surface dressing is applied to seal the surface of minor roads. One or more bituminous courses are overlaid on roads for higher traffic volume.

In addition to the efficient cold recyclers and soil stabilizers, Wirtgen furthermore offers a laboratory unit. It is a valuable aid in determining the optimum composition of base courses bound with foamed bitumen.
