Three new heavy breakers featured on the Atlas Copco stand in Munich, with all three featuring the company's PowerAdapt system and claimed to offer an optimised power-to-weight ratio.
The first, the HB 2000 weighs in at 2,000 kg (4,400 lb) and has been designed for use with 22-38 tonne carriers. According to Atlas Copco, this new breaker offers 10% greater power than the model it replaces, the HB 200. The second new breaker is the HB 3100 for 32-52 tonne carriers. Weighing 3,100 kg (6,820 lb), the HB 3100 provides 5% greater power than the model that it replaces. The largest of the three, the HB 4700 weighs 4,700 kg (10,340 lb), is designed for 45-80 tonne carriers, and in turn offers 13% more power than its predecessor.
According to the company, the improved guide system of the hydraulic breakers provides a better stability and resistance. "After all, hydraulic breakers are subject to tough operating conditions," Torsten Treger, product line manager medium & heavy breakers said. "A new retaining bar provides a better protection especially in the lower part of the hydraulic breaker which has to take a lot of wear and tear. The service window and the recesses for the lateral slewing screw couplings have been reinforced. The Non-Dust version of the three new breaker models are furnished with the all-round wear protection which all of the dust versions of the HB series of hydraulic breakers already feature."
