KOMATSU Australia says Penrith City Council recently purchased a new PC55MR-3 excavator to undertake general excavations and maintenance work throughout the council’s area.
According to Komatsu, the council purchased the PC55MR-3 in June 2009 to replace a backhoe. The model was chosen for its clean and simple control layout and design and good access to major components with the tilt cab.
Penrith City Council’s Fleet Co-ordinator, Ken Myhill says works which the new Komatsu PC55MR-3 excavator will be used for include excavating concrete guttering and footpath excavations, cleaning up roadside table drains, culverts and related works.
Myhill says the council operators find the excavator more versatile and compact, especially when working under shop awnings on footpath work.
