VOLVO Construction Equipment has received California approval for install HUSS MK retrofit systems on Volvo Tier 3 IEGR-equipped machines in the state.
According to Volvo, it has been awaiting approval since late 2008 when it entered into a strategic partnership with HUSS to provide retrofit systems for its construction equipment to significantly reduce exhaust emissions.
Volvo says the HUSS MK system has been approved for use on its engines using V-ACT technology with internal exhaust gas recirculation (IEGR). It also meets California’s CARB Level 3+ requirements.
The HUSS retrofit system for Volvo equipment is said to be capable of collecting up to 99% of diesel particulate matter (PM) emissions, exceeding the California CARB requirements.
The Volvo/HUSS emissions reduction retrofit system is equipped with a HUSS Control Unit which constantly monitors filter function to precisely control diesel PM loading and regeneration.
Volvo says the HUSS systems applications include construction and mining equipment, industrial and refuse trucks, transit and school buses, heavy-duty on-highway vehicles and stationary generator sets.
