VOLVO Construction Equipment says one of its A40E articulated hauler has proven its worth as a prime mover at E & JW Glendinning’s Linhay Hill Quarry, Great Britain.

According to Volvo, E & JW will replace its current fleet of 50t rigid trucks with Volvo’s 40t articulated haulers.

Volvo says a second A40E has been ordered and the two units will soon work in tandem, replacing the Euclid R50’s and R60 trucks to produce around 500,000t of limestone per year.

The A40E features a Volvo 16L diesel engine with 471hp and provides high torque at low engine speed. The unit has all-wheel drive and 100% differential-locks.

The articulated haulers dump body has a standard load capacity of 39,000kg with an 18.8 cubic meters heaped SAE 2:1 volume.
Volvo says Glendinning has added optional side extensions and a foldable headboard to their A40E to provide greater carrying capacity for overburden jobs.
