Quantum C range offers 4 per cent fuel saving

CASE IH has launched the Quantum C range that will replace the two JXC models offered in the UK.

The Quantum 95C has a turbocharged 4.5 litre engine, developing 97hp. It also has a lower rated speed of 2,300rpm and the option of a de-clutch button to make gearshifts simpler.

The Quantum 65C and 75C models use a 3.2 litre motor while the Quantum 95C gets a 4.5 litre engine all benefiting from a turbocharger, inter- cooler and exhaust gas recirculation to achieve Stage IIIa status.

As well as promising an average of 4 per cent fuel saving over the JXC models they replace, the engines also have a lower rated speed of 2,300rpm. The Quantum 65C, 75C and 95C models are rated at 65hp, 77hp and 97hp.

There are a number of transmission options based around a four gear, four range ‘box with two-wheel drive models topping out at 30kph while four-wheel drive tractors can achieve 40kph. There is the choice of either a synchro or electro-hydraulic shuttle as well as creep speeds and a split gear.

Added to the transmission from the JXU tractros is the Powerclutch option. This allows the operator to press a declutch button on the ‘stick when changing gear rather than having to use the clutch pedal.

To cope with the increase in power, the transmission and back end have been beefed up with the linkage capable of lifting 2,600kg. Hydraulic flow has also been increased to 47 litres per minute at the remote valves with the option of increasing this to 64 litres.

In the cab the operator will find an improved dash.

“JXU is a typical stockman tractor with powershuttle, optional electronic hitch controls, greater hydraulic output and can be loader ready from the factory as well as fit under a 2.6m high shed door,” explains Michael Gillen, tractor product specialist for Case IH.

“The JX tractors have a lower level of technology with a synchro shuttle with no powershift or electronic lift option. The Quantum C as the names suggests is a more compact tractor and can be specified to a similar level as a JXU with the greater hydraulic flow, mid mount valves for operating a factory fitted loader and transmission options whilst also giving us an opportunity in the municipal market when fitted with turf tyres for golf course and landscape work.”

The Quantum C tractor can have an overall height of 2.3m, depending on the wheel equipment, and a wheelbase of 2098mm on the 65C and 75C while the 95C is 2185mm. The price saving of a two-wheel drive versus four-wheel drive is about 10 per cent.
