CNC lathes customised for work requirements
Rigid and robust turning centres are available as 2-axis 'turn-only', multi-axis versions with driven tools and C-axis, or as a mill-turn centre with sub-spindle, radial tool turret and C-axis.

UK Monforts agent, Nuneaton-based Leader CNC, has introduced the Monforts RNC400 turning centre. Not sold in the UK since 1999, the high specification range of Monforts machines is already having an impact said Leader CNC to manufacturingtalk.com. Leader has already secured an order for a Monforts GBP 350,000 Unicen MultiTurn mill/turn machine tool.

Leader CNC said it has already witnessed considerable interest in the 12 tool turret Monforts RNC400 since its introduction to the UK.

* Flexible turning lathe/centre 'packages' - the RNC400 turning centres offer flexible packages to meet almost every user needs, said Leader.

These rigid and robust machines are available as follows.

* 'Single Turn' - a 2-axis 'turning-only' machines.

* 'Multi-turn' - has driven tools and C-axis.

* 'Duo Turn' - has a sub-spindle incorporating a radial tool turret and C-axis.

* Other options - Y-axis, hard turn packages, automatic load and un-load as well as post process gauging stations.

The RNC400 has a turning length of 600mm and a swing diameter over the bed of 420mm.

Alternative machines in the Monforts SingleTurn range cover component lengths from 250mm to 1500mm with swing diameters from 300mm to 720mm.

The RNC400 has a maximum bar capacity of 65mm with an 85mm option.

With numerous options throughout the RNC range, the RNC400 is available with Siemens or Fanuc control systems.

* Rigidity - with rigidity instilled in every aspect of the machine, the 7,000kg RNC400 has a robust tailstock located on separate hardened and ground guideway.

With ease of use built into the formidable package, the quill force of the RNC400 is adjustable and the stroke can be programmed.

Collision monitoring between the tailstock and turret guarantees safety whilst a self-centering steady is affixed to the tailstock guideway for additional support.

The high rigidity resists cutting loads of approximately 10,000N/micron and enhances surface finishes considerably.

With exceptional vibration damping qualities, the Monforts RNC range delivers outstanding surface finishes, accuracy levels and also improves tool life.

All Monforts machines have a maintenance and wear-free longitudinal hydrostatic guiding system.

Free of any frictional contact independent of traverse rate, the RNC400 guarantees that even increments of 0.001mm are traversed without any stick-slip, said Leader.

With ease of use and productivity at the heart of the RNC range, the RNC400 has an integrated tool probe that can be used as part of the CNC program.
